What is an Environment Policy?
Environment policies in the Stat Temp system are assigned to sensors to define the specific temperature and humidity thresholds they monitor. These policies establish warning and critical ranges, ensuring the system knows when conditions exceed safe limits.
The system's Environment policies are:
Name | Warning Ranges | Critical Ranges | Humidity Ranges |
---|---|---|---|
Air Temperature - No Humidity | N/A | 44.5° F - 73° F | N/A |
CDC Freezer Policy | N/A | -58° F - 5° F | N/A |
CDC Refrigerator Policy | N/A | 35.6° F - 46.4° F | N/A |
Drug Storage Room | N/A | 64.9° F - 82.9° F | 20% - 60% |
FDA Freezer Policy | N/A | -58° F - 0° F | N/A |
FDA Refrigerator Policy | N/A | 32° F - 40° F | N/A |
Logging Only - No Humidity | N/A | -328° F - 392° F | N/A |
How do I know which Environment Policy is assigned to a sensor?
You can view which Environment Policy is assigned to your sensor in many different places.
From the Dashboard
- Click the 3-dot icon on the top right of the sensor you want to view.
- Click "View Environment Policy".
- A non-editable panel will slide open, displaying the assigned Environment Policy information.
From the Sensor data grid
- Click 'Sensors' on the top of the Stat Temp website.
- Click the configure icon (3 verticle lines with dots) to the right of the search bar, then select 'Environment Policy'. This will display the Environment Policy assigned to all sensors.
From the Sensor show page
- From the dashboard OR the data grid, click the sensor you want to view.
- On the sensor show page, click the hyperlink on the left of the website.
- A non-editable panel will slide open, displaying the assigned Environment Policy information.

- If there are two sensors plugged in, it will show both environment policies on the monitor display.
Create custom Environment Policies?
Stat Temp includes its own policies, but you can also create your own. You can create as many custom Environment Policies as needed.
Create a new Environment Policy:
- Click the gear shift icon in the top right, then select 'Environment Policies'.
- Click 'Create Environment Policy' in the top right.
- In the Create Environment Policy panel, enter a name for the policy.
- To monitor temperature, toggle on Use Temperature.
- To monitor temperature warning ranges, toggle on Use Temperature Warning Range, then fill in the required values.
- To monitor humidity, toggle on Use Humidity.
- To monitor humidity warning ranges, toggle on Use Humidity Warning Range, then fill in the required values.
- Once the policy is configured, click Save in the bottom right.
Edit an Environment Policy:
You can only edit the Environment Policies that you have created or cloned. System Environment Policies cannot be edited or deleted.
- Click the gear shift icon in the top right, then select Environment Policies.
- Click the three-dot icon ( ⋮ ) next to the policy you want to edit, then select Edit.
- In the Edit Environment Policy panel, update the policy name and modify the monitoring parameters as needed.
- Once you've made the necessary changes, click Save in the bottom right.
Clone an Environment Policy:
- Click the gear shift icon in the top right, then select 'Environment Policies'.

- If the policy is non-editable (system Environment Policies), you must first save the cloned policy, and then edit it separately.
- Click 'Yes, Clone' to complete the process.
- If you cloned a system Environment Policy, locate the newly created policy and click on it to make any necessary edits.

- Click Sensors at the top of the Stat Temp website.
- Select the checkbox next to each sensor you are assigning the same environment policy.
- Click Edit in the blue ribbon at the bottom of the website.
- Toggle on Environment Policy, then select the correct policy.
- Click Save to apply changes.
From the Sensor Show Page
- From the Dashboard or Sensor Data Grid, click the sensor you want to edit.
- On the Sensor Show Page, click 'Edit' on the top of the website.
- Scroll to the Environment Details section and select the correct environment policy.
