What is a Notification?

A notification is an alert generated by your Stat Temp system to inform you about an issue or event. Notifications are specifically tied to sensors or monitors, meaning they can only be triggered if they are assigned to a specific device.

Each notification is linked to a sensor or monitor, and you can create as many notifications as needed. For example, you might set up individual temperature notifications for each sensor in your system. However, only one notification of each type can be assigned to a single sensor or monitor at a time.

Available Sensor Notifications

  • Critical Temperature/Humidity Notification
  • Warning Temperature/Humidity Notification
  • Missed Check-in Notification

Available Monitor Notifications

  • Running on Power
  • Running on Battery
  • Low Battery
  • No Battery
  • Low Drive Space
  • Low Signal Strength
  • No Sensors Attached

Notification Glossary

Device Type: Select "Monitor" or "Sensor." This setting determines what devices you can assign this notification to.

Notification Delay: Specifies the amount of time that must pass before the notification is triggered. This delay allows the issue to potentially resolve itself before notifying users.

Create Event: Generates an actionable and loggable event on the Events page.

Requires Acknowledgement:

  • If enabled, users must acknowledge the notification.
  • Choose the link type that is sent in text and email notifications.
    • View Event - Link that takes you to the Event page where you can take actions (acknowledge, resolve, add notes)
    • Auto-Acknowledge - Link that auto-acknowledges the event, stopping the notification. This link will also take you to the event page where further actions can be taken.
  • Decide whether to enable a snooze option for this notification.

Requires Resolution: Indicates whether the notification requires resolution before it is considered resolved.

Auto Close: Automatically closes the event after it is resolved, even if all required actions have not been completed.

Repeat/Repeat Forever: Configures whether the notification repeats. If set to "Forever," it will repeat until it is either acknowledged or cleared on its own.

Notification Chain: Defines the order in which users or contacts are notified and the method of notification.

Schedule: Allows you to configure a notification to trigger on a specific schedule.

Step 1 - Chain: Select users, contacts, or groups and the type of notification they will receive.

Notification Message: Editable email and text fields that include dynamic information based on the device type.

Create, Edit, and Clone Notifications

The Stat Temp system includes four pre-built notifications that can be assigned to your sensors or monitors upon signing up. These notifications are fully customizable and can also be cloned to better suit your specific needs.

To Create a New Notification

  1. To access Notifications, click the gear shift icon on the top right of the Stat Temp website. From there, click 'Notifications'.
  2. Click 'Create A Notification' on the top right. Then fill out the notification form with the desired notification parameters.
  3. Click 'Save' on the bottom right once you have it configured properly.

To Clone a Notification

If an existing notification has settings configured similarly to the new notification you want to create, you can clone it. Cloning allows you to duplicate the notification and make any necessary adjustments, saving time compared to creating and configuring a new notification from scratch.

To clone an existing notification, from the data grid, select the 3-dot menu to the left of the notification, then select 'Clone'

To Edit a Notification

  1. To access Notifications, click the gear shift icon on the top right of the Stat Temp website. From there, click 'Notifications'.
  2. Click the Notification that needs to be edited.
  3. If you are making changes to a specific section, you can click the correct tab on the top of the notification panel.

⚠️ You cannot edit the Device Type of a notification.

  4. Make the necessary changes then click 'Save' at the bottom of the panel.

To add or delete users/contacts from Notifications:

  1. On the notification page, click Notification Chain at the top of the panel, this will bring you to the user section for that notification.
  2. From here, you can add or remove users, contacts, or groups who will receive notifications in Email, SMS, or phone call format.

How to Assign Notifications

  1. Click Sensors or Monitors at the top of the website, depending on what type of notification you are assigning.
  2. Select the white box to the left of the Sensor or Monitor to which you want to assign notifications.

⭐ You can multi-select for bulk edits.

  3. A blue bar will appear—click 'Edit Selected'.
  4. In the side panel, assign the appropriate notifications (e.g., Running on Battery, Critical temperature, Missed Check-in).
  5. Click 'Save' to apply changes.

You can also assign Notifications by editing Sensors or Monitors.

How to Test Notifications

Stat Temp does not currently offer a dedicated quick test feature for your notification system. However, you can easily configure the system for manual testing by following these steps:

  1. Adjust Notification Settings:
    • Set the notification delay to 5 minutes. This ensures a minimal wait time before notifications are triggered.
  2. Simulate a Critical Event: Remove the sensor from its current environment, causing it to register as critical. To expedite this, you can immerse the sensor in warm or cold water to quickly alter its readings.
  3. Force a Current Reading: Press the white button on top of the Stat Temp monitor to force the system to take a current reading. Once the sensor's condition reaches critical, an event will be created in the system.
  4. Wait for Notification Trigger: Allow 5 minutes for the notification delay to expire. After this period, the notification test should commence.
  5. Verify Notification Delivery: If you do not receive the expected notifications, take the following steps:
    1. Check the events page log to confirm that the event was created and processed correctly.
    2. Verify that all contact information, such as email addresses and phone numbers, is entered accurately in the system.
  6. Contact Support: If you suspect an issue with your notification system, email StatTemp@gohcl.com for further assistance. Provide details of your test and any observations to help expedite troubleshooting.
