How to Add and Configure a Sensor

Add and Configure a Sensor

When a new sensor is connected to a monitor, it will automatically appear on your dashboard after taking its first reading.

The sensor will be named using the monitor’s name followed by the sensor’s serial number—for example, a sensor connected to a monitor named “Pharmacy Monitor” with the serial number “000010FF9F59” will appear as “Pharmacy Monitor - 000010FF9F59.” The sensor will also adopt any settings defined in the Default Sensor Configuration section under System Settings.

After the sensor has been added, you want to make sure to configure it properly to ensure it is monitoring the correct parameters and is setup for notifications.

To return to the dashboard at any time, click the Stat Temp logo in the top left corner.

Configure A Sensor

To update a sensor’s settings—such as its name, environment policy, group assignment, read frequency, or notification preferences—follow the steps below.

  1. From your dashboard, locate the sensor you wish to edit, click on the three-dot icon ( ⋮ ) associated with the sensor, and select 'Edit'. OR Click directly on the sensor to open its page, then click 'Edit' on the top right corner.
  2. On the sensor edit panel, scroll through and make any necessary changes.
    • Rename the sensor if necessary
    • Choose the group(s), if applicable
    • Set the correct environment policy
    • Assign the correct notifications
  3. After the sensor has been properly configured, click Save on the bottom right.

You can repeat this process for as many sensors as you are adding, however, if you are adding multiple sensors at a time, we offer bulk editing.

Edit Multiple Sensors:

To apply the same settings to multiple sensors, perform a mass edit on parameters such as environment policy, log frequency, notifications, and group assignments.

  1. Click 'Sensors' at the top of the Stat Temp website to go to the Sensor data grid page.
  2. On the Sensor data grid page, select the sensors you want to assign the new settings to. A blue bar will appear with various options.
  3. Click on 'Edit Selected' to open a side panel for configuring the desired settings.
  4. Ensure all configurations are set correctly, then click 'Save' at the bottom of the panel to apply the changes.
