Getting Started with Events
An Event is a system-triggered response to a specific condition detected by a sensor or monitor. Most events are tied to a notification, which determines how the event behaves, including whether it requires acknowledgment, resolution, or both.
Events are:
- Loggable: They appear in your Events page with full history and activity tracking.
- Reportable: They can be included in exported reporting and audit records.
- Snoozable: When enabled, users may temporarily silence alerts.
What Triggers an Event?
Events are created in response to qualifying system conditions, including but not limited to:
- Critical temperature or humidity excursions
- Warning temperature or humidity thresholds
- Missed check-ins
- Running on battery
- Low battery
- Low signal strength
- No sensors attached
Events trigger only for the notification types assigned to that device.
Event Behavior
If a notification is set to repeat, alerts will continue through the notification chain until the event is acknowledged, snoozed, automatically cleared, or resolved, depending on configuration.
Notification Throttling
For events that remain active over multiple days, notification frequency will be automatically reduced:
| Days Active | Notification Behavior | Delivery Time | Recipients |
|---|---|---|---|
| Days 1–5 | Normal notification frequency | As triggered | Users in notification chain |
| Days 6–10 | One notification per user per channel per day | 1:00 PM EST | Users in notification chain |
| Day 11+ | One daily email notification per event | 1:00 PM EST | Users in notification chain |
Notification throttling does not acknowledge, snooze, silence, or resolve an event — it only changes how often notifications are sent.
What to Do After Receiving a Notification
A notification indicates that an event is active and may require review or action. Open the link in the notification message to access the Event Page for full details and available actions.
Event Actions
Acknowledge
Acknowledging an event means claiming responsibility.
Once acknowledged, future notifications will stop for that user.
Acknowledgment can occur in two ways:
Manual Acknowledge:
Open the event and select Acknowledge.
Auto-Acknowledge (when enabled):
Clicking the notification link will automatically acknowledge the event and open the Event Page.
If Snooze is enabled on the notification, acknowledging the event will also activate the snooze timer.
Snooze
If enabled, Snooze will temporarily pause notifications for a defined time period.
Notifications will restart only if:
- The event is still active after the snooze period ends, and
- The event has not been resolved
All snooze actions are logged in the Event record.
Resolve
If resolution is required, the event must be acknowledged prior to resolution.
Resolving an event confirms that corrective or investigative action has been completed and must include any required notes or resolution details.
Add Notes
Notes can be added at any time throughout the event lifecycle.
This is used to record:
- Status updates
- Observations
- Troubleshooting steps
- Communication details
All notes are recorded in the event activity log.
