Adding Groups to Notifications

Using Groups inside Notifications allows you to manage alert routing more efficiently. When a Group is assigned to a notification, every user and contact added to (or removed from) that group is automatically included in all notifications where that group is assigned. This eliminates the need to update individual notifications whenever staffing or contact lists change manually.

Why Use Groups in Notifications?

Assigning groups to notifications provides several advantages:

Automatic Updates

Any user or contact changes within the group flow directly into the notification's delivery chain.

Less Manual Work

No need to edit multiple notifications when a team gains or loses members.

Consistent Alerting

All staff in the group receive the same alerts, ensuring consistent communication within departments, clinics, or work areas.

Scales Easily

Perfect for organizations with multiple locations or departments where alert recipients vary by area.

How to Assign Groups to Notifications

1. Open the Notification Settings

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right of the Stat Temp website.
  2. Select Notifications.

2. Choose or Create a Notification

  • Click Create Notification to build a new one, or
  • Click any existing notification name to edit.

3. Assign Groups in the Notification Chain

Inside the notification:

  1. Scroll to the Notification Chain section.
  2. For each delivery method (Email, Text, Phone), open the dropdown.
  3. Select one or more Groups that should receive that alert.

You may mix groups and individual users if your workflow requires it.

4. Save the Notification

Click Save in the bottom-right corner to apply changes.

How It Works After Setup

After assigning a Group to a notification:

  • Adding users to the group → They automatically start receiving the notification.
  • Removing users from the group → They automatically stop receiving it.
  • Groups can be reused across multiple notifications to maintain consistency.

This ensures notification routing stays aligned with your organizational structure without any ongoing manual upkeep.

Best Practices

  • Use one group per department or location for clean alert routing.
  • Avoid assigning individual users unless necessary—use groups for scalable alerts.
  • When creating multiple new groups, clone standard notifications to keep settings consistent.
  • Review group membership regularly to ensure the right users receive alerts.
