How to Enable/Disable WiFi Meshing
WiFi meshing allows Stat Temp monitors to form a dynamic network where devices relay data through one another. This creates a more resilient connection in environments with weak or inconsistent WiFi coverage. When meshing is enabled, a monitor can automatically route its data through nearby Stat Temp monitors, ensuring stable communication even if it’s not within direct range of a router. This is especially useful in large facilities, walk-in units, or areas with concrete or metal obstructions.
How to enable WiFi Meshing
To enable WiFi meshing on a Stat Temp monitor:
- Press the white and black buttons on the top of the monitor to access the device menu.
- Use the white button to scroll to Toggle Wifi Mesh and press the black button to select.
- The monitor will restart. To verify that WiFi Mesh was enabled, the far left icon (linked ovals) should no longer have a cross through it
Once enabled, the monitor will automatically connect through the best available mesh path, using nearby Stat Temp monitors as relay points when needed.
How to disable WiFi Meshing
To disable WiFi meshing on a Stat Temp monitor:
- Press the white and black buttons on the top of the monitor to access the device menu.
- Use the white button to scroll to Toggle Wifi Mesh and press the black button to select.
- The monitor will restart. To verify that WiFi Mesh was disabled, the far left icon (linked ovals) should have a cross through it
Disabling WiFi meshing on a monitor will prevent it from acting as a relay point for other devices. If that monitor was supporting connectivity for part of your network, nearby monitors may lose their connection. Disable mesh only if the monitor does not need to participate in the mesh system or is being moved closer to the router.
Limitations of Running on Mesh
If a monitor starts running on battery power, it will stop participating in the Stat Temp mesh network but will continue communicating on the main Wi-Fi network until AC power is restored.
If you need to reconnect to a different network, you will need to disable mesh first.
