Creating Notifications while Creating Groups
You can now clone existing notifications directly from the Create Group screen, allowing you to configure alerting for new departments, clinics, storage areas, or locations much faster. This enhancement removes the need to create new notifications from scratch after adding a group, reducing setup time and keeping alert behavior consistent across your site.
How It Works
When creating a new group in Stat Temp, you will now see a dropdown containing all existing notifications in your tenant.
From this list, you may select one or more notifications to clone for the new group.
This includes:
- Temperature excursion notifications
- Missed check-in notifications
- Power and battery notifications
- Any custom notifications your site uses
When you choose notifications to clone:
- A new copy of each selected notification is automatically created
- The cloned notification is named after the new group (following your naming patterns)
- The new group is automatically assigned in the notification chain
- Email and text routing are immediately ready without extra configuration
This approach ensures that all new groups start with the correct alert structure and that future user additions to the group are automatically included in alert delivery.
Best Practices for Cloning Notifications
To keep your system consistent, especially when scaling across multiple departments:
- Create a “default set” of notifications to clone for every new group
- Or use the system’s built-in notifications as your cloning baseline
- Avoid creating many one-off notification variations unless a group truly requires a unique workflow
Following a standardized cloning pattern helps reduce alert inconsistencies and prevents configuration drift as your tenant grows.
Next Steps After Creating the Group
Once your group and cloned notifications are created, you can continue directly to:
- Assigning the cloned notifications to sensors and monitors
- Confirming delivery channels and escalation settings
- Verifying that the correct users are assigned to the group
Your new group and its notifications will be ready for monitoring immediately, with no need to build notifications manually unless additional custom alerts are required.
